CSKA beat Zenit to round off hat-trick

Keisuke Honda struck twice as double winners PFC CSKA Moskva claimed the Russian Super Cup with a 3-0 victory over FC Zenit St Petersburg.

CSKA dominated from the start and took the lead in the 15th minute when Honda beat new Zenit goalkeeper Yury Lodygin with a precise shot from outside the box. Centre-back Sergei Ignashevich increased the lead before the break, firing in the rebound following an Alan Dzagoev free-kick. Vágner Love hit the woodwork and Honda rounded things off with seven minutes remaining as CSKA completed a clean sweep of Russia's three titles.

Coach Leonid Slutski chose instead to focus on potential improvement. "I see some negatives," he said. "We weren't clinical going forwards and wasted several big chances. Then we wanted to have more possesion, but when we sped up our attacks we lost the ball." Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti highlighted similar problems, refusing to blame his defence and instead turning attention to a misfiring forward line who can "play much better".
