Wernbloom, Tosic and Nepomnyaschy take on CL draw
29.08.2013
PFC CSKA midfielders Pontus Wernbloom and Zoran Tosic and sports adviser to the club president Valery Nepomnyaschy shared their views on the UEFA Champions League draw. The Army Men were pitted with Bayern, Manchester City and Viktoria (Plzen).
- — We have a very difficult group. Draw could have been much better, we have two top sides among our opponents, — said Pontus Wernbloom to pfc-cska.com. — Strength of Bayern is out of question. Manchester City is a strong club obviously, but if I'm not mistaken, last year they lost third place to Ajax. Everything can happen in football. I have positive mood, just like my partners at PFC CSKA are. I have no fear against our opponents, we have good chances.
- — First of all, I must say that I'm delighted to play in a such group, so I'm pleased with the results of the draw, — said Zoran Tosic. — Manchester City are progressing and becoming stronger with each year. Bayern are a completely different story, because they are current trophy holders. It's a big honour for me to represent the club in matches against such teams. Matches against them are a big challenge. Plzen are Czech champions and also tough opponents.
- We have real chances to go through. Our squad plays together for a long time, we reached a great level of mutual understanding. We have all the chances. If you think it's impossible to progress there's no point in going to the match, better stay at home. We will strive to qualify for the knockout stage.
- Valery Nepomnyaschy, sports adviser to the PFC CSKA president:
- — Bayern and Manchester City are two strong sides, matches with them are going to be spectacular. I would say that we have a tough group, but there are chances to go through. In the first tour we will meet reigning champions in Münhen. It will be a very difficult match. But after that we'll meet 'dark horse' Viktoria in Moscow. If we would score four points in the first two matches, than we will have very realistic chances to qualify for the next round.
