Leonid Slutskiy: The referee's mistake affected the result of the game
18.08.2014
PFC CSKA head coach Leonid Slutskiy spoke to the media after his side ended the record winning streak by losing to Spartak.
- — Both teams, especially ours, played not the best game in terms of attacking play. Considering realignment of the attacking groups in both sides, one couldn't expect a great amount of the scoring opportunities. One single moment could decide the game, and that's exactly what happened today. The referee awarded Spartak with penalty instead of showing Parshivlyuk the second yellow card for diving and sending him off the pitch. It's not an excuse for our unsuccessful attacks, but the referee made a mistake which affected the final result.
— There is an opinion that the referee from St Petersburg shouldn't be appointed for such a game. What do you think?
— When Georgy Shchennikov will return on the pitch?
— The people who appointed him should think about it. It's not the first time our side have issues with this referee. - — It's still a long way to go for him.
— Bibars Natcho made his debut today. He played a little bit, but can you rate his performance yet? - — He came on the pitch when our team was already behind, and our tactics were destroyed. We can see in the training process, though, that he is a top-class player.
— Has the rehabilitation period for Seydou Doumbia shortened? - — No, it hasn't.
