Seydou Doumbia is Player of the Year in Switzerland
FC Young Boys striker Seydou Doumbia has for the second time in a row won the Credit Swiss Player of the Year award. The Ivorian player, who is due to join PFC CSKA this summer, scored 30 goals in 31 game of the Swiss League to become the top scorer. In 2009 Doumbia was also the best goalscorer of the championship.
The striker still has chances to get a place in the Ivorian national squad at the WC-2010, though it will be hard to compete with such stars as Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and Arouna Kone. Should the coach Sven Goran Eriksson decide to engage Doumbia in South Africa, the striker will come to Moscow after the World Cup for his team is over. Otherwise, he is expected to join PFC CSKA on June 6, when the players of the squad are back from holiday.
