Arnor Sigurdsson: The secret of my endurance is Icelandic water

— Arnor, it is incredible, but it seems that you belong to that rare kind of football players who really like to run without the ball…
— (Laughs) I do not like it either but running is easy for me. I have been like this since childhood, and when I became a professional, I realized that it is also very useful. It is important to do hard work every day during pre-season. We all understand this no matter how anyone feels about running. I like training in Campoamor, I work out with joy.

— And yet, where does this speed endurance come from? Is this a characteristic of the organism?
— I think it is all about the special Icelandic water that I drink (smiles).

— Then why does Maga suffer so much during running?
— He never drinks just water (smiles).
— I drink something else, — confirms laughing Hordur Magnusson, while walking nearby (Ed.).

— This is not your first Campoamor. How does it feel?
— Yes, this is my third time here. I am already used to everything. We understand trainings that we will do. We need to maintain a constructive attitude. We all know that this is not the most pleasant time for a football player, but there will be a result from these physical activity in the games.

— How close are you to your optimal condition right now?
— We are all getting closer to it. I think that almost everyone will be able to play for 90 minutes in the upcoming sparring sessions. The match activity differs from the training one, and we also need it. We will be 110 percent ready for the season to resume.

— I noticed that Vasiliy Berezutskiy communicates a lot with you and Maga, not only explains something, but also jokes in his usual manner. How do you like it?
— We like it. As a team, we spend more time here with each other than with our families outside of training camps. So, we are all family too. Joking while working is very important, everyone does it the way they like. You cannot always be serious, humor also helps to distract.

— Are you and Hordur used to wearing masks?
— Yes, we always wear them in Moscow, in the city or when we fly to away matches. I think everyone in the world is already used to them (chuckles). We are not going to complain, we are just going to keep doing our work. I hope the situation will improve soon, and the coronavirus will recede.
