Bruno Fuchs: I am overwhelmed with emotions, I desire to play!
The hero of today is the Brazilian defender Bruno Fuchs, who worked this Austrian training camp with the team.
Bruno's rough patch began at the end of last August during a guest match with Akhmat: thirteen minutes on the field, injury, difficult recovery, many months without a big game…Fuchs spoke about his struggle to return to the field and expectations for the next season in an exclusive interview pfc-cska.com.
— Bruno, there are reasons to congratulate you! How are you feeling right now? And how did you perceive this whole long story?
— Thank God, now I finally feel very well. I am gaining optimal conditions — slowly, because I missed a very long time. I am overwhelmed with emotions, I desire to play!
It was a very difficult period, I came to a new country, to a new team, and I suffered an injury in the first game. Then there were more injuries, the recovery time increased significantly, but I left all the problems last season. I hope it will be a great year for me and for PFC CSKA! I want to play as many matches as possible, come out onto the field in every game. I will prove my worth so that the coaches choose me. I am ready to fight for a place in the main squad!
— Who helped you to cope with the rough patch all these difficult months?
— My family, of course, my girlfriend, my representatives, who did not turn away from me. There are agents who forget about a football player who is out for ten months. In my case, they, on the contrary, helped me, surrounded me with people who constantly helped me in recovery.
But I also would like to thank our entire team, and especially Mario Fernandes. We started communicating with him even before I moved to Russia, he always spoke very positive about the club, which later became mine. He spoke very positive and at the same time as truthfully as possible about how everything is arranged here, about the fans, about different nuances of life. To suffer an injury and go through such a recovery was a real test, but now I want to do everything to benefit PFC CSKA.
— Can we say that you are close to coming out onto the field in the upcoming friendly match?
— Everyone agrees that it is necessary to return carefully and gradually. I repeat, I have never had an injury with which I would be out for ten months. I am unlikely to be ready to play 90 minutes exactly in the next match — I feel it from my physical, technical condition. But if the coaches decide to give me some play time, I will do everything to show myself from the best side.
— The new coach Aleksey Berezutskiy is a very strong defender himself in the past, who went through everything with the team and won a lot. How do you communicate?
— It is not difficult for us as defenders to understand each other. He played in my position, was a significant football player. Moreover, Aleksey is one of the idols of the club, I respect him very much. We are constantly talking, and the coach informs us what and how to do, how to position ourselves in certain episodes. I am comfortable working with him.
— Are you comfortable with the hot Austrian summer?
— This weather is somewhat similar to the Brazilian one. I really like it when it's warm outside. Such a climate helps to feel better and recover faster. But I am ready for everything — for the heat, for the frost, no problems at all. I want to play, this is the most important thing!
— Army Men always watch Euro matches here, when there are pauses in the training schedule. As a person who is as far from the realities of the Russia national team as possible, tell me, was the unsuccessful performance of the team a surprise for you?
— First of all, I would like to note that I was cheering for Mario, for Divey and for my other teammates. It's true. And in general, for the Russia national team, too.
I think your national team could have performed better. The team is good. Of course, it was hard to compete with Belgium, it is a strong opponent. But the other two teams, in my opinion, did not surpass you in class and level of play. Therefore, it was possible to expect victories. The Russia national team made a lot of noise at the 2018 World Cup, loudly announced itself. And it seemed to me that it was possible to rebuild that success, but this did not happen.
— Your countryman Pele once joked that the Brazil national team would rather become the champion in hockey than the Russia national team in football. Years later, he politically smoothed out his statement, saying that our country still has more chances, but…
— (Smiles) I understand Pele's joke. I won't say about hockey, but football is very smooth now, everyone can beat anyone on any given day. The outcome of the matches is decided by micro-nuances. So, it is quite possible that Russia will achieve a significant victory in the future.
