Chidera Ejuke: Call me Chidi!
Exclusive interview with PFC CSKA newcomer.
— I do not mind, call me Chidi. Especially it is pronounced much easier than my full name.
— Share your impressions about the transfer.
— I am glad to be here. I have heard a lot about this club, I personally followed PFC CSKA. I hope that I can help the club to succeed, I will give it my all every day, in every training session and in every match I will do my best.
— You played in Norway, saw both snow and frost. Can you say that you are hardened and ready for any difficulties?
— Yes, I played in Norway and I moved there in winter, there were a lot of snow and low temperatures, it was cold. I am ready for any kind of weather. I will work hard to represent the club in the best possible way.
— Tell us how you got into football.
— It is a long story. When I was about six years old, I just started playing outside. Then I went to school and started playing for the school team. There were a lot of things after that, but my first professional team was Norwegian Valerenga, which you know about. I had been playing in Norway for two and a half years, then moved to Heerenveen last summer. I had a great time there, enjoyed it, played a lot of matches. Now I am here, all my thoughts are about PFC CSKA, I hope to achieve a lot with the club.
— Maybe you talked to Chidi Odiah, Musa, Olanare before the transfer?
— These are real legends, Chidi and Ahmed spent many years in PFC CSKA. When Chidi played here, I was still too young, but when Musa played here, I saw some of his games. I did not talk to them. But I talked a lot about them, and my agent told me a lot about the club, about the interest from Army Men, about how long they have been watching me. He made it clear that the club had serious plans for me. I was encouraged by all this, I told him that I want to join this club, and that if the transfer happens, I will be happy to play for PFC CSKA.
— Tell us about your football qualities.
— I like playing a lot, I like keeping the ball, being active, creating chances for partners, scoring goals and delivering assists. I think I am a spectacular player. I hope I can show it when I start playing.
— Even before signing the contract, your Instagram was filled with PFC CSKA fans. What did they write?
— Yes, there were a lot of comments, people asked me to move to PFC CSKA. This also played a role! These things are exciting, you understand how much people want to see you here. It brought me a lot of positive emotions, I'm looking forward to playing and giving my all.
— Army Men won many titles when there were Nigerians in their team. Will the tradition continue?
— I hope so. I have always wanted to win trophies. I hope that we can win the Championship and do our best in the Europa League. And we will try to make it to the Champions League in the coming seasons.
