Konstantin Kuchaev: We tried to play meaningfully because of strong physical work at the training camp
06.07.2021
PFC CSKA midfielder about the match with Copenhagen.
— It was obvious that the physical work that we had at the training camp did not allow us to play as fresh as Copenhagen. The opponent objectively looked better than us. But the task was not to show the best football, but to try to do what is required meaningfully under conditions of physical work, to block zones, to begin to understand each other — who runs where and how they act.
— This is your first friendly match after the injury-related pause. How was it? Were you ready to spend more time on the field?
— I felt fine, I was ready to play more, but there was no need for this: we have a lot of players, everyone got almost the same time. No one was expected to play the whole match, especially since I was after injury. Although I was the one who had the chance to play the most (smiles).
— Did you have to substitute Yakovlev on the same position where you eventually played due to his injury?
— Yes, I was supposed to play on the right in the attack. I have been playing this position for a whole season, so I have adapted, while I am more comfortable in attack than in defense. I have already gained good conditions, like all the guys, but it is still objectively difficult to say how you will play in the season, when there will be freshness. The last game at the training camp will make it clear.
